Cascade General's machinists
have extensive experience in the overhaul, repair and rebuilding
of any mechanical system afloat today: diesel engines, boilers,
turbines, reduction gear, cargo gear, deck machinery, condensers,
gearboxes, CPPs and more. We have complete in-house ability to perform
turbine, pump and valve work. We perform more bow and stern thruster
installations than any other West Coast yard.
Cascade General holds
unlimited ABS certification to perform shaft repair. Our staff has
successfully built and installed shafts more than 60 feet (18.2
m) long, weighing 140 tons (127 tonnes).
With work boats, barges
and portable on-site machinery, we are well-equipped to perform
afloat repairs to cut expenses by reducing dry dock time. In fact,
our yard boasts the shortest average drydocking time per project
of any US West Coast shipyard.
Cascade General's machinists
regularly devise innovative approaches to meeting our customers'
repair needs. Our people helped pioneer the chock fast epoxy resin
process (in-place epoxy casting) for stern tube bearings and rudder
support systems, thereby eliminating line boring.
This practice has led
to expanded applications for new materials such as the use of Teflon
seals in place of carbon in IG systems which practically eliminates
erosion of fan shaft seal areas. We regularly manufacture IGS fans
on-site using material with outstanding durability.
No matter how big or
complex the job, we have handled it.
