Cascade General has access to the
largest steel fabrication facility in the region. The shop has a
clear height of 65 feet (19.8 m) and an overhead crane capable of
handling 35 tons (31.7 tonnes). We have in-house rolling and burning
expertise with three burning tables.
Cascade General has access to an
extensive on-site inventory of steel plate from 3/16" to 3 1/2"
(4.7 mm to 88.9 mm) (DH-36 to 1 1/2" (38.1 mm) and mild steel to
3 1/2" (88.9 mm) as well as a large selection of bar stock. The
proximity of local steel suppliers ensures adequate materials are
readily available.
Cascade General developed
the "Evacuation Box" - a vacuum box divers can easily attached to
a ship's exterior hull below the waterline to remove water from
the area surrounding a hull fracture, allowing underwater welding.
The evacuation box is a cost-effective, ABS and US Coast Guard-approved
alternative to dry docking in certain applications.
We have extensive experience
with large-scale prefab and heavy lift projects. The equipment and
facilities of the Portland Shipyard- including 17 heavy-lift cranes to 120 long tons (122
tonnes) capacity and 550,000 square feet (51,096 square meter) of
craft shops - are laid out to further enhance the efficiency of
your repair job.
Results? Just ask the
owners of the drill ship Glomar
Explorer - we installed 2,250 tons (2,041 tonnes) of steel double
bottoms, decks, and bulkheads, ahead of schedule and on budget.
Cascade General routinely meets the requirements of owners whose
specifications exceed regulatory requirements and who demand attention
to detail.
No matter how big or
complex the job, we have handled it.
