The 950' Ro/Ro sealift ship USNS Red Cloud, delivered to the Navy in January 2000, was drydocked at Portland Shipyard for repairs to the instrumentation on both propeller shafts. Two 20'-long semi-circular patches were removed from the shaft covers to gain access to the remote temperature devices (RTDs).
