The Corps of Engineers 350' dredge Essayons was given an emergency drydocking in Drydock 3 by Cascade General after striking a buoy. When the ship was lifted, the buoy's anchor chain was found to be wrapped around one propeller shaft.

The chain was removed and the damage surveyed. All four blades of the ship's starboard variable pitch propeller needed to be replaced. The port propeller blades were also renewed at the same time and the Essayons was re-launched in three days.
